Many farm inputs are harmful if they touch your skin, enter your eyes or are breathed in. A few habits keep you and your family safe.
- Read the label before you open the container. Use only the quantity it recommends.
- Wear gloves, a mask, full-sleeve clothes and covered footwear while mixing and applying.
- Mix in an open, ventilated place. Do not mix with your bare hands.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while working with the product.
- Keep children, animals and food away from containers and equipment.
- Wash your hands and face with soap after work. Wash work clothes separately.
- Do not reuse empty containers for food or water. Dispose of them as the label advises.
- Respect the waiting period on the label before harvest.
If someone feels unwell after exposure, move them to fresh air, remove contaminated clothes and call a doctor or the nearest health centre straight away. Carry the product label with you.
