Most drenching problems come from a few habits that are easy to fix.
- Pouring by eye. Some plants get too much and others too little. Use a measured dose for every plant.
- Skipping the label. The label gives the dose and method for your crop. Read it each time.
- Drenching waterlogged or bone-dry soil. Wait until the soil is moist but not flooded.
- Rushing along the row. An uneven pace means an uneven dose. Move steadily.
- Not flushing the sprayer. Rinse the tank and lines with clean water after work.
- Skipping protection. Wear gloves and a mask, and wash up afterwards.
- Keeping no record. A few notes on date, plot and quantity help you improve every season.
General guidance. Your soil, crop and region may need a different approach, so ask your local agriculture officer.
