When you drench matters almost as much as how much you apply. The right moment helps the dose stay in the root zone, where the plant can use it.
- Moist, not waterlogged soil. Very dry soil can make the liquid run off. Soil already full of water cannot take more, and the dose can wash away.
- Avoid heavy rain. Do not drench just before or during heavy rain.
- Choose cooler hours. Early morning or late afternoon is easier on you and on the crop than the hottest part of the day.
- Follow the crop stage. Check the product label for the growth stage and the gap between rounds.
- Write it down. Note the date, plot, product and quantity so you can see what worked next season.
General guidance. Your soil, crop and region may need a different approach, so ask your local agriculture officer.
